Trouba, the guy who tantrumed to get out of Winnipeg? Then tantrumed to stay in NYC?

Would probably be a good guy for our  youngens to learn from.

And his wife will finally be a full fledged brain doctor when he gets here, so when he skates wildly out of position to smash himself head first into the boards, she easily treat his massive concussion.

All 3 combined are likely to be under $25.5m. Yzerman making a lot of dumb people look real dumb right about now. Negotiations are a grind and theres no gm Id trust more then Stevie when it comes to rfas. ufas are another story but even those contracts shouldnt hinder the team longterm. Wings are in real good shape going forward thanks to the man with the plan.

Is he really though?  He signed Raymond for 8 mil a season when he could have signed Raymond for what in January?  8 million.  Seider could have been had for 8.5 million per in January.  Now what's he going to get?  8.5 - 9 million.  The SCAM missed out on an opportunity to nab Broberg and Holloway by not having his ducks already in a row.  That's a huge ******* miss.  The change to get fully trained first round picks entering their primes for next to nothing comes around once.  That won't happen again.  We should have been poised and ready to make that move.  Nope.  Lagesson 2 mil.  Gustaffson 2 mil.  Holl 3 mil.  Chiarot 4.5 mil.  Petry 2.5 mil.  We have 14 mil tied up in 5 COMPLETE DOG SHET defensemen instead of 8 mil tied up in Broberg (4.5), Holloway (2), ASP (1.25).

Broberg - Seider

Edvinsson - ASP

Johansson - Maatta

Wallinder

That could have been our defense, and it would have completely kicked ass.  Now we have to watch old slow and shet for another year for no reason other than the SCAM being a LAZY GM that sucks.

Lagesson is only $775K.

Edmonton is still looking for a RHD, we need to offer them Holl for futures. As close as they are to a Cup, I'm pretty sure they aren't on his no-trade list.

This is still my trade hopes that will make our team better and open roster and cap space:

to EDM : Justin Holl

to DET : Furture Considerations

(or)

to SJS : Ollie Maatta

to DET : 5th Round Pick

(That would be Walman, Maatta, 2nd for a 5th)

to VAN : Ville Husso

to DET : 2nd Round Pick

to ANA : Willaim Wallinder, Elmer Soderblom, 3rd Round Pick

to DET : Cam Fowler (50% retained)

then re-sign Seider 8yrs $9.5M AAV

Fowler - Seider

Edvinsson - Gustafsson

Maatta - Chiarot (Chiarot - Holl)

Johansson - Petry

Lagesson to GR

In other words give up nothing /get something in return for our cap dumps and give up nothing of significant value for a top pairing dman and also get the team to retain half salary?

More realistic:

to EDM : Justin Holl, 2025 2nd Round Pick

to DET : Furture Considerations

to VAN : Ville Husso (50% retained), 2025 3rd Round Pick

to DET : Furture Considerations

to ANA : Shai Buium, Carter Mazur, 2026 2nd round pick

to DET : Cam Fowler

Most of us probably wouldnt do any of those trades which is probably why Yzerman hasnt made any of the trades so many have been clamoring for. Other teams dont want our scraps and were not getting top of the lineup players for scraps.

Well I considered this in all my scenarios:

Radio commentator for the team, Bob Stauffer, indicated Sunday that a right-handed shot defenseman with term will be on Edmonton’s radar this season but is fairly vague about when it will ultimately make that addition. Edmonton still has a few options left on the free-agent market, such as Kevin Shattenkirk or Justin Schultz. Still, Stauffer’s report indicating that the Oilers are looking for term attached likely alienates any current free-agent candidates.

Considering that Edmonton is in search of a RHD with some term, I don't think acquiring an NHL Veteran for "future considerations" is out of the question.

Despite speculation about his return after the Canucks were eliminated, recent updates suggest he remains a long-term doubt. This ongoing injury issue has led the team to seek short-term goaltending solutions, igniting debate about Demko's reliability as the primary goalie.

Considering his uncertain recovery from his injury, Vancouver may be a little desperate to acquire an NHL quality goalie. All they have is a Silovs and a PTO guy.

Friedman believes the Ducks will start taking away playing time from Fowler in favor of giving their younger blueliners more time to develop. He indicated there was a positive working relationship between the two sides.

Six days later, Fowler confirmed his talks with the Ducks to The Athletic's Eric Stephens, admitting his career has reached a transitional stage that could lead to a trade. He's now in the second half of his career and acknowledged his younger teammates will carry the Ducks back to contention.

They aren't going to pay Cam $6.5M to sit. They need to trade him. They don't need cap space, they need roster space. Then they will need to replace prospects in San Diego. We did Anaheim a solid trading them Fabbri and a 4th for peanuts basically. A goalie that'll be in Toledo. Also Fowler recently expanded his 4 team trade list to 6 and Detroit was on it.

Wallinder and Soderblom are B+ to A- prospects, they want players to replace promoted kid in San Diego. Any Cup contenders would have to trade money for money because most would not be able to add his Cap even at 50%. They don't want an NHL player back, they need the roster spot. Unless it's an LTIR or Waiver candidate.

As teams finalize their rosters for training camp, trade discussions involving Fowler could accelerate. If Detroit pursues him, they may need to clear cap space by trading bad contracts, which could lead to reshuffling their top-six lineup. The return for Fowler must also be enticing enough for the Ducks to consider parting ways with their longstanding defenseman.

Bottom Line
Fowler's potential trade to the Red Wings hinges on smart roster management and financial strategy, reflecting a significant choice for GM Steve Yzerman on whether the two-year commitment aligns with Detroit’s future plans. His arrival could enhance the Red Wings' defensive capabilities while providing valuable experience in the locker room.

Lagesson is AHL. And Gus is the only D that was signed after Broberg became a RFA. ASP is not even in North America yet and you think he should already be a top 4?

He would not have gotten Seider cheaper in January. You do realize that GMs deliberately wait until the summer for contracts because it gives them the advantage of time that the players have less of as it gets closer to the season?

Larkin kinda trashed Walman and Fabbri in his presser. Said something about guys who weren't committed are gone now.

I could definitely see Fabbri just being happy hes still playing hockey and not being ’locked in’.

He actually says "Walman wasn't the kind of guy you wanted in the lockerroom or around your family."  Then he says "While I was impressed with Fabrri's dedication to hockey by coming back from 3 knee injuries, I wasn't impressed with all his St. Louis Blues paraphernalia in his house.  I mean, what team are you on now, dude.  Wake the F up."  Pretty candid, Larks.

Larkin seemed absolutely devastated when we missed the playoffs. You know he went into daddy scams office and narked on anyone who wasn't taking the spring skid seriously.

Walman was seen day drinking at bars in detroit during that time. And his diet consisted of daily Chipotle, and Texas Roadhouse.

Don't know what Fabbri did, but he is Italian, which isn't good.

I hears Walman called Larkin an Anti-Svenite.

Tarasenko is probably the most undiscussed and underrated signing this year. A 2 time cup champion 200 foot top 6 forward, seemingly living in Kane's shadow on this team.

He gave, IMO, hands down the best interview at his training camp media availability.

He made very clear his utmost concern was getting to know his teammates and learning the systems. He said he chose Detroit because he heard nothing but good things, and liked where the team was trending. But most importantly, when asked about leadership, he responded that a good leader recognizes when others around them are not doing well, on the ice or in their personal life, and they help them.

This is the kind of guy you want on your team. This guy is better than 10 fabbris and 20 walmans.

I’m genuinely not convinced Cam Fowler is any better than Jake Walman…the guy we gave up a stud RHD prospect to get rid of. More expensive tho.

I'm having trouble finding the stud RHD we gave up. Remind me!

Bingo. I’ve always been pumped about Gibson and apparently he’s done nothing but excel since being traded to Nashville.

Yeah, I read he was a standout at the Preds rookie camp.

I really like Kiiskanen coming back, but we definately gave up a valuable D prospect to move Walman and keep our 2nd. Luckily I think Kiiskanen and Plante will turn out to decent middle 6 forwards. And I figure Mo and ASP are the future of our RHD, so Gibson was movable.

Yep, my only point was that we gave up a lot to move Walman and I'm not convinced Fowler is any better than Walman was. His counting stats are slightly better and his analytics are much worse. He's undoubtedly more expensive tho when you consider we A) gave up Gibson, and B) costs more. If SY went out and acquired Fowler after moving Walman I'd be pretty irritated by the poor asset management.
