SY really wants Berggren to kill himself

Word around the campfire is YzerMAN traveled down to Grand Rapids just to fart on Berggren. Walked into the locker room, told Kasper he's not playing tonight, and crop dusted the Swede on the way out. Incredible.

What do you all think about the rumblings out there about Detroit having some interest in Mittlestadt?

I don't see anywhere that links us to Casey Mittelstadt, Plus with it being in division it would cost us a bloody fortune to acquire him.

The Trade Bait listing as of today

https://www.tsn.ca/tsn-hockey-s-trade-bait-board-1.2079080

Question why not just wait till summer to see if you can woo UFA's to your team especially if you are in our scenario.

We aren't yet built for a long cup run quite yet IMHO.

Well if that's the case...

Teams should only add key pieces at the trade deadline when they are overburdened with huge contracts and they have lots of young players. Only when Marco Kasper is 33 will we truly be ready for a deep playoff run. I told you guys adding DeBrincat was stupid. I told you adding Kane was stupid. And now look where we are. Dead last in the league. We have destroyed the rebuild. Any hope we had at a Cup window is lost forever. This is why you do not aggressively add key pieces until Marco Kasper is 76.

Can't win without superstars bro. We need to tank every year until we get the honor of drafting Alexis Lafreniere. Only then we be ready to compete.

The flip side of that is pizzzing away 2nd rounders for guys like Eric Cole can lose you the chance to draft guys like Hintz. And if you're not winning the lottery you need as many kicks at the draft can as possible.

Whatever man. I have nightmares about missing out on Owen Power every single night. Just imagine how different our fortunes would be if we'd gotten some lottery luck that year and could have drafted a skilled, smooth skating, 6'6 220 lbs, left shot defenseman instead of Simon Edvinsson?

The lottery destroyed our rebuild before it started.

Okay now HERES the trade:

To DET: Will Borgen

To SEA: Berggren + 3rd

Borgen is a 6'3" RHD that plays 4th spot for Seattle, 2nd unit PK, is 27, and locked up for another year at $2.7. Hes on pace for 30 pts with no PP time this year.

Ive been a fan of this kid since his time in Buffalo. He could be really good for us here.

Sell Holl to someone for a 7th and:

Walman - Seider

Chiarot - Borgen

Ghost - Petry

It is with a heavy heart that I admit, and announce... the superstars are it again

I'm unfamiliar with many of the depth players on West Coast teams. What's him game like?

So you're saying that Ken Holland's big deadline additions of Eric Cole and Marek Zidlicky didn't do it for you? Hard to imagine why that deadline would leave a bad taste in your mouth lol

Holland should have gone for it. All in instead of half-azzing it. Would have beat Tampa instead of losing in 7 and maybe end up as cup finalists instead of the lightning. Just like Stevie should GO FOR IT this year!

Not sure if other people have mentioned this, but the Athletic is reporting that the Red Wings have shown "the most interest" in Pittsburgh's Bryan Rust.

Not really sure about the fit here. He's a good player, but he's a small, right shooting, 31 years old winger who's under contract for 4 more seasons at 5.1 million AAV.

Big, plays with an edge, positionally sound, good legs and very mobile. Lacks creativity and offensive instinct.

I argued with Sabres fans a lot during the Botterill regime that Borgen was the D prospect they should be promoting and using. But they always deferred to sexier D prospects that put up points, but, IMO, sucked at D.

Since Seattle got him in the expansion hes actually gotten a chance to play, and bingo bango hes in a top4 role and holding it down well.

Hes brendan smith without the regard brain and constant mistakes

Sounds like a winner. The only change I'd make on defense is bringing in a physical RHD that can play (and not get scored on much) in the Top 4 to pair with Chiarot. I don't really care who it is (provided they're not on a prohibitive contract).
