The 91 of Ryans 3,019 Report post Posted February 13 Just now, Troy McClure said: Raymond and Seider will become part of the high dollar core SY builds around. Guy's like ASP will be where he pushes the envelope with his ELC advantage. The more I think about it, SY does the same as last year. I could see that too. I'm saying cough up some picks for the right rental or two (or make a smart hockey trade for someone who will stick around a bit) and try and give the future high dollar core a couple of rounds of playoff hockey this spring. Then do what you were saying.

The 91 of Ryans 3,019 Report post Posted February 13 For Guentzel? 1st + Kasper/Danielson/ASP is what Dubas will ask for. As much as I love the player, he's not worth that package to the Wings IMO

As much as I love the player, he's not worth that package to the Wings IMO yah, i agree. but we can counter with 1st + Savage/Buchelnikov + Czarnik and then bump up to Berggren as a walk-away recounter. Not gonna give them TWO firsts. They're going to ask for that, but they're not going to get that. No playoff team can afford Guentzel next year, so the Penguins are NOT going to get the same rdturn that a guy with term and good cap hit would get (Chychrun). The media can print what they want, but high 1st, almost nhl ready former 2nd/3rd pick, and nhl ready depth player is going to be the get. Yzerman wont burn the 1st on this trade. Will be interesting to see who does.

The article YOU posted said Dubas would be looking at a deal similar to the (edit) Giroux trade which ended up being a 1st + Tippett (a former 1st round top 10 pick) Guentzel is younger and better now than Giroux was at the time. Looking and getting are different stories. That trade wrecked Ottawa and bolstered Philadelphia. The whole world can see that now. Guentzel is a rental, Giroux is a permanent resident. Pittsburgh is going to ASK for a 1st (2024), former first (Kasper), and a 4th liner (Fischer). Detroit is going to OFFER a 1st (2025), former 2nd (Buchelnikov), and a nhl/ahl utility guy (Czarnik). They might SETTLE on 1st (2024), better former 2nd (Berggren), and Czarnik. If Detroit news prints an article that Detroit wants a first rounder for Perron, that doesnt mean they're going to get one. It just means that's the START of the negotiation.
Motor City Mullets 283 Report post Posted February 13 it's a shame Toronto/Ottawa don't face each other until next season...Would've loved to see them tear each other apart (read: Sens beating up Leafs) just before the playoffs this spring.

town123 212 Report post Posted February 15 This is a Sportsnet (Canada) trade suggested by a hockey writer who is most likely probably certainly clueless. Forgetting the St Jose angle in this 3-way, would anyone object to Detroit sending Bear-grin, a 1st in this deal? Would Calgary say no? To Detroit Defenceman Noah Hanifin* Goalie Kaapo Kahkonen *Hanifin inks an eight-year extension with Detroit, San Jose retains 50 per cent of the money remaining on his expiring contract. To Calgary Forward Jonatan Berggren Forward Anthony Duclair Detroit’s 2025 top-10 protected first pick To San Jose Goalie Ville Husso Detroit’s 2024 top-10 protected first pick Vancouver’s 2026 third, previously acquired by Calgary Why the Red Wings do it Hanifin isn’t perfect, but he’s a legit, puck-moving first- or second-pair guy. He just turned 27, so an eight-year extension is justifiable for a team desperately trying to become a playoff squad right now. Husso was a free agent play that has not worked out. He’s singed to a $4.75 cap hit through next season. Kahkonen, by contrast, is a pending-UFA with a $2.75-million hit. Detroit is moving off some Husso term and money and can slot Kahkonen — an upgrade on Husso right now — into the mix with Alex Lyon and James Reimer.

Husso and a 1st for Kahkonen is beyond steep. CGY has no reason to acquire Duclair. Hanafin with an extension in place will cost DET more than a 1st and Berggren. 1 town123 reacted to this

LeftWinger 5,065 Report post Posted February 18 (edited) TDL Scenarios by Leftwinger... Just throwing stuff out there. With Toronto needing help on D, what would you think about a trade between us and them centered around Holl and Bertuzzi? Holl has an M-NTC and Bertuzzi has an NMC, so of course there'd have to be some waiving going. Toronto would get D help for their playoff run and we'd get Bertuzzi back for our playoff push. We may not be able to re-sign Bertuzzi, but at least for this season, we could reunite him with Larkin and Raymond for some improved offense, and maybe he gets all the good feels from the crowd cheering his return and does re-sign. I am sure Toronto wouldn't miss his 22 points that he has put up thus far. Plus, it would free up a couple more million dollars for them to make more changes. I'm not about helping Toronto out, but more so about getting Bertuzzi back to form with his buddies and solidifying us into a playoff spot. Now before you ask about our D, I am also throwing out the scenario (talked about a lot here) with either Ottawa or Calgary involving Berggren and Chychrun/Hanafin. But alternatively, I'm just wondering, would you consider Rasmus Andersson from Calgary instead of Hanafin? He has 2 more years left on a pretty cheap contract @ $4.55M. I still believe that Petry will be bought out over the summer, making room for Edvinsson to take a spot. Making next year's D look something like: Walman - Seider Edvinsson - Andersson (Hanafin/Chychrun) Maatta - Chiarot These are just the names involved, obviously there'd be more parts involved, but I do believe this would help Detroit stay in the playoffs and make even a bigger impact next season. Next season up front, I have a feeling that Sprong is going to price himself out of Detroit, and Perron just might be a victim of numbers (wouldn't mind him taking a coaching position in the team in some capacity.) If they did manage to re-sign Bertuzzi (both sides happily) and Kane, this would be killer Top 6 with Compher the #2C. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Kane - Compher - DeBrincat I think they definitely need to upgrade the G position as well, but maybe that could be stealing Markstrom right out from everyone's noses in the Andersson(Hanafin) package! All for bringing the junkyard dog back, but if he wants back it should be pursued in the offseason. Also - Holl is never going back to Toronto. He was their Ericsson. Not only would Holl not waive to go back to the team that blamed him for Matthews not scoring, Toronto managment would be publicly lynched by the fanbase for re-acquiring him. That said, I think Holl has been pretty okay for us, and I don;t mind him.
