Really looking forward to seeing these line combinations. I'd imagine Lalonde will deploy lines in the same ways Cooper did. I expect him to stack the offense on lines 1 and 3 and have a 2nd shutdown line. Compher is our Cirelli, but I'm curious who his wingers will be. I think that moves Copp to 3C with more offensive guys (Berggren, Sprong?) which should increase our scoring.

Of course the defense pairs are a big mystery too. I think I like:

Walman-Seider

Gostisbehere-Petry

Chiarot-Holl

Maatta

Max Bultman said that Lucas Raymnd tipped the scale at 188 lbs he was 176 lbs last year. So he put on 12 lbs this summer. not bad.

Also keep in mind that Raymond is the shortest player on the team at 5'10" if you don't count Alex DeManlet

Compher is 6'0" 190 lbs
Fabbri is 5'11" 185 lbs

So that is good thickness for him. I would say he's reached "man weight".

Bultman has lines based on day 1

Quote

Berggren in a battle?

Among the expected NHLers between the multiple practice groups that skated Thursday, Detroit’s camp-opening forward lines looked like this (order my own, as these are from watching practice and not a line chart):

DeBrincat – Larkin – Raymond
Michael Rasmussen – Andrew Copp – David Perron
Robby Fabbri – J.T. Compher – Daniel Sprong
Klim Kostin – Joe Veleno – Christian Fischer

Burgers not skilled enough to usurp a top 6er and not trustworthy enough for bottom 6?

He could take Fabbri's spot (injury) or Sprong's spot (suckage/jail) maybe.

Great. But when Sprong's riding gun with JT and Fabbri and Berggren is with Kasper and Danielson (a line that gives me the chubs btw) it might mean lil Johhny is still getting the 'prove it' treatment.

Can Danielson play in Sweden instead of going back to junior.   He can't go to Grand Rapids correct?    Just a thought.

Only issue is that Sweden has already started their season, And it's been pretty much reported that he's going back to the Brandon Wheat Kings.

I'm just realizing it's not August anymore.   Thinking October is really gonna hit me hard.

Bultman does at times come off as arrogant... like a fan who happened to get behind the veil and likes to flaunt his minor insiderness.

He does however produce some nice articles on the athletic...  but his takes are conservatively team friendly so not to lose his inside track.

That top line is getting outmuscled. That 2nd line is heavy, but not much offense. Switch out Perron with Raymond.

Berggren doesn't need a line assignment because he can literally be slotted in anywhere.

Day 2 it was Peron Larkin Cat so begs the question does Newsy have an account on here as he did just as Axl said....

I'd like to see this formation - as it makes sense for the special teams:

DeBrincat - Larkin - Raymond
Berggren - Copp - Perron
Kostin - Compher - Rasmussen
Fabbri - Veleno - Sprong
Fischer

Ghostbear - Seider
Walman - Petry
Chiarot - Maata/Holl

Husso
Lyon/Reimer

Here is the special teams formations I think should happen:

PP1
DeBrincat - Larkin - Rasmussen (net front)
Seider - Ghostbear

PP2
Raymond - Copp (net front) - Perron
Petry - Berggren

With this lineup you can roll out a fresh line of Fabbri - Veleno - Sprong when the PP ends. Both Fabbri and Sprong can score. You can also roll a fresh Chiarot - Holl/Maata pairing.

PK1
Compher - Rasmussen
Walman - Seider

PK21
Copp - Kostin
Chiarot - Maata/Holl

With this lineup you can roll out a fresh line of either line 1 DeBrincat - Larkin - Raymond or a fresh bottom line of Fabbri - Veleno - or Sprong at the end of the PK. You follow up the play with a Ghost-Petry pairing.
