New New Prospects Thread

It just seems like if Raymond, Seider, and to a lesser extent Rasmussen are all going to be getting significant raises in the offseason we'll need to save money where we can without losing too much from what's making us a quality team. Swapping Berggren with Fabbri, or Perron, or even Sprong is one way to ensure your offense doesn't nose dive while still saving a bunch of money. And it's not like the guy can't play, he's really good. I can't say I'll be surprised if he gets traded, but unless the return is significant I don't think it's a great idea.

If Wings are in at the deadline keep everyone maybe add. If out trade Fabbri, 1 of Perron/Fischer, Maatta, Gost, and Reimer. Regardless trade Fabbri and Maatta and let Perron/Fischer and Gost walk this summer. Extend Sprong, Kane, and all RFAs.

Larkin, Kane, Debrincat, Compher, Raymond, Berggren, Copp, Rasmussen, Perron/Fischer, Veleno, Kostin, Sprong, Mazur

Seider, Edvinsson, Walman, Holl, Chiarot, Petry, Johansson

Lyon, Husso

Still room to add a top 6 F / top 4 D UFA.

I am not sure I bring in new blood ...

I think the team is playing for each other and have a chip on their shoulde. I have to say Cat impressed me by dropping the gloves. Granted I was more worried about him breaking a finger etc but I think helped get them moving in the right direction.

Add/subtract in off season UNLESS there is SUCH a deal it will never happen in another 100 years.

I am in the

Dance with the girl you brought to the dance and see how far you get with her camp.

I think there’s a lot of wisdom to this. Hard to justify changing a lineup that keeps beating top teams.

Still room to add a top 6 F / top 4 D UFA.

Highly unlikley Fischer gets traded. His contribution on that 3rd checking line is much more valuable than any return he would get.

And I think Sprong is gone. Assuming Kane returns, and Berggren is up, there won't be room for him in the top 9. And you cant afford to pay a 4th liner the kind of money it would take to keep him.

93-71-88

27-37-23

17-18-48

24-90-57/36/Mazur

Still room for Sprong in top 9 and cap space to sign him including raises.

Could also switch Copp and Veleno to have more speed at C for Sprong and Bergy and keep Copp as the shutdown C with some combo of Perron/Fischer/Kostin Mazur/UFA.

Nate Danielson - drafted 9th overall

19 years old - 6'2", 185lbs. - RH-C

35GP - 15G - 37PTS

Emmitt Finnie - drafted 201st overall

18 years old - 6'1", 185lbs. - LH-C

41GP - 8G - 36PTS

Is Danielson a bust or is Finnie the steal of the draft?

Not to be taken serious (big Danielson fan) but an interesting tidbit nonetheless.

4 goal night for Finnie last night. 8 goals, 1 assist in past 4GP.

update:

Danielson

37GP - 15G - 40PTS

Finnie

45GP - 16G - 45PTS

This is where Yzerman has to be savvy.  There are teams out there that are going to be willing to give up good capital at the end of this month.  And if we can trade guys away for top 32 picks, then we have to be ready to do it.  Perron, Chiarot, and Gost should all be available to highest bidder.

Someone said earlier trading Fabbri and promoting Berggren, either at the deadline or in the off season.  I think this is optimal and saves some cash.  Ideally this let's you keep Sprong and Kane.

In the off season we also have to look at moving Veleno (easy) and/or Copp (costly, difficult) to make room for some ELCs.

On the back end... we need an upgrade and to make room for and ELC or two.

Veleno aint going anywhere

Gost

Chiarot

Petry

Perron

Fabbri

Kane

Berggren

If the price is right on any of these guys, move em.  Im ok giving Sprong up to 3.5 mil and as much term as he wants.  He's a wing that can play WELL on any line.  He's what we wanted Zadina to be.

Emmitt Finnie with four goals last night.

Is he good?  Or just in a bad league?

Veleno's gotta go, we have 2 younger and cheaper guys in the pipeline that can step in and take his job as early as next season... Kasper or Danielson

Sprong is a goner. I just don't see how the cap space is there without trading Fabbri, or a roster space without trading Berggren.

Rumor has it, water might also be wet. Need a source?

Our goaltending situation has gone from a complete mess to a good starter, an ok back up, and 2 prospects less than 4 years away.

Cossa = average
