9 positive covid tests, we only dressed 14 players against finland as well...

I assumed it was somehow covid related. Shame. I am pretty excited for Germany as an up-and-coming hockey nation and games like this are not a good look for the sport.

yes, two games in three days with 9 fowards and 5 d-men is a tough pill to swallow, I´m not 100% sure but I think within the next few days most will be cleared to play, the positive tests came on the 20th. If we could ice our best lineup, we would have 4 recent 1st round picks in Seider, Peterka, Reichel and Stützle and that wouldn´t look too bad. In the next few years there might be real strong german teams on the international stage with Greiss and Grubauer in net and Leon Draisaitl, Kahun, Sturm and Bergmann upfront added to the other four and we have quite a good team.

So is Soderblom actually 6"8 like elite prospects says he is.

I've heard some play by play guys say he's 6'6" or 6'7", but he looks taller than that to me. I would say 6'8" is accurate. He's a big boy, and actually has some legit skill, as shown with his goal against the Czech's the other night. I think he could possibly develope into a solid bottom six winger with some power-play net front minutes in a few years.

Gunler with an absolute snipe. That's a player I was really hoping we'd land with one of our many 2nd round picks in this past draft. I liked the Wallinder pick, but Gunler would have been nice too...

Johansson with the assist on the first goal, Niederbach scored the other with Raymond picking up the secondary assist.

Also Berglund picking up the secondary assist on the 3rd.

Raymond has been great. Shook up in the 2nd, but ready to start the 3rd.

9 SOG for Lucas.

A lot of Sweden's shots have been coming from the outside. Raymond seems like the only player with a willingness to drive the net and get to the dirty areas.

Soderblom had been very impressive.

Niederbach has been noticeable as well.

Yup, Sweden is playing this way too nice. Need to get up in your opponents faces more in games like this. Shots 64-6.

Also; the Raymond/Holtz-line hasn't really got going. Team Sweden lost their two top C before the tournament due to Covid-restrictions and Sundsvik - who's been good - was suppose to play bottom six.

Swe commentators wondering why they aren't trying Niederbach on that top line role instead.

I agree with this. Niederbach looked good in the game against Czech Republic, and really good in the game tonight. It was against Austria, but I still think he stood out above a lot of other players, including Sundsvik.

Raymond is going to be an absolute stud.

Niederbach is going to be the steal of the 2020 draft.

Soderblom is going to be the steal of the 2019 draft.

Future is looking bright with these Swedes.

1. yes, 2. hopefully, 3. 2019 has more than "just" Soderblom to offer and yes it looks certainly brighter than some people try to make us believe.

By the way, Germany won their first game yesterday and have a good chance to finish third in their group, despite playing with 9 F and 5 D. Stützle played more than 31 !!!!! minutes yesterday. I´m really glad that Raymond looks really good, otherwise I would be really p***ed off that we didn´t get Stützle

Yeah, 2019 looks like a solid draft, but by "steal of the draft", I mean relative to where he was picked. There are two or three players I like more than Soderblom in that draft class, but being a 6th round pick, if he makes it in any capacity, he will be considered a big time steal.

I remember the prospects camp in 2019, when Söderblom got flattened by Grewe (another really promising aggressive forward, who worked his way up to the third line on Djurgardens, with 4p 3g 1a in his last ten games and only 4PM in 19 games) you could see Söderblom´s talent but he was still a bit uncomfortable in his huge frame, didn´t really use it, but now he really looks like a hit on a project.

Another reason to play Niederbach with Raymond and Holtz is that he has a 71,5 FO% (4th in the tournament).

'Murica just steamrolled those Bohonk defense 1st f***s 7-0.

The US and Sweden looks very similar in style of play and quality of the teams. US got better centermen but Swe has better defense.
