Not me in the pic, but Steve's in Nova Scotia right now... let the MacKinnon and Crosby watch begin.

I didn't want to be the one to have to do this, but it's time everyone stopped beating around the bush and full on ignoring the obvious of what is going on here, so it is with a heavy heart that I point out: Yzerman has bad shoe game.

Hes wearing like black on black air force one low tops or something similar. Those are cool if youre black teenager from 2005 lol

My main issue is how clean and whole they are. Clearly he hasn’t been kicking enough tires. I’m phoneposting and lgw won’t let me copypaste the image I want, but I was gonna post a pic of Kennys old pair of New balance for reference. Toes sticking out and everything.

NJD now talking with Verbeek about Gibson... gotta think the Berggren rumors may have something to do with Gibson if he is being shopped by Verbeek.

Husso + Berggren + 3rd, for Gibson?

This team's recent history of giving up third round picks for goalies gives me pause on that

The return on Gibson will be interesting to me because he's a good goalie, but he's making a lot of money and has a lot of term, and most contenders won't be able to take that contract on without sending something back. This is basically what happened with Chychrun last year at the deadline. Arizona didn't want to take anything back so they had to settle for less. That said, taking back an expiring contract (like Husso) shouldn't be an issue for them. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Ducks have some other interesting players available as well. I REALLY like Ilya Lybushkin. Dude is loctite on D. Maybe something like a Petry+ for Lybushkin swap? Alas, the optics of trading away the home town loser probably stops this...

Henrique and Silverberg don't entice me much, but at 50% retained they entice me a lot...

Gotta think hate ball and Yzerman could dance together this year given their teams respective situations.

I really don't care about bringing in any forwards considering how well we play offensively. I also obviously like our internal options on defense. Goalie is the only upgrade that makes sense to me, but I agree that SY and Verbeek have every reasons to help one another.

We won't be 100% healthy come game 1 of the playoffs. Guys like Henrique or Silverberg exist just to fill voids with something useful. If they can be had for reasonable expense I'd rather see them on the 3rd or 4th line than Fischer or Czarnik or Luff.

Good point.

Kinda dumb, but with Tampa struggling and Brisbois being Yzermans other homie, the player I would go after is Tyler Motte. Tampa doesn't have much else to offer besides Stamkos (who will be signing with us in the offseason). Motte is a Michigan kid and good friends with Larkin, Copp, and Compher. We could probably bring him in for a measly 7th to be a 4th line PK center.

I wouldn't mind that. I love ultra competitive bottom six guys. Christian Fischer is quickly becoming my favorite Red Wing.

Yah, I'd say 50% for Husso and 25% for Sprong.  What do you think our return looks like for these guys?

Matta - 4th

Ghost - best trade chip -  at least a 2nd

Perron - 2nd or 3rd

Kane - won't be traded unless he asks - but he'd land a 2nd at least

Husso - hopefully  Y can recoup what he spent - 3rd

Sprong - 2nd or 3rd

The rumor mill is hot and heavy with talk of Patrick Kane "keeping an eye" on the Red Wings as we're starting strong. After seeing how fast and aggressive and strong our team is playing, and how all-in our team is on defense, is anyone else thinking maybe he'd be a bad fit? Even if his hip surgery was wildly successful and he's back to something close to a top end player, isn't his style of play all wrong for a team like what we're seeing on the ice?

I'm just going to leave this here.

Most of these look spot on.
