vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted April 13, 2016 This isn't the playoff pick game that we used to do though is it? Nope, sorry. I forget who took over for NFM, but no one had done one, so I figured I'd throw this one up. I also decided to go round by round so we all could score better and to make it easier to keep track of. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Ah hem. Oh, very well, then.... It appears that if the Wild win, 3 of us (so far) shall have bragging rights. But we're still very much a minority, so that does mean that we shall have the bragging rights.

Aethernum 276 Report post Posted April 15, 2016 Welp, I had the Rangers upsetting the Penguins, but that won't happen without a healthy Lundqvist. After the first set of games, I'd probably also switch my SJS/LAK prediction to six games, too. But this is what I had going in: Western Conference:Wild v. Stars in 4Hawks v. Blues in 6Sharks v. Kings in 5Predators v. Ducks in 7Eastern Conference:Islanders v. Panthers in 6Wings v. Lightning in 7Flyers v. Caps in 4Rangers v. Pens in
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 18, 2016 I think they should re-think how teams get matched up in the playoffs. In the east, there were 5 teams with more than 100pts and 4 of them are playing each other, so guarantee to have 2 of them gone after round 1 (PIT vs NYR) the worst of that. You have 2 - 90pt teams playing each other. In the west you have the 3rd and 5th place teams in the entire league playing each other (CHI-STL)...while I understand how the matchups are determined, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted April 18, 2016 ^ but isnt that what makes things interesting? Instead of the bottom teams immediately being kicked off- they get to advance and get a crack at upsetting the top teams in later rounds.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 19, 2016 No, doesn't make it interesting all, makes it ridiculous. Why give a weaker team a better chance because two stronger teams go against each other and have one knocked out early? 1 vladdy16 reacted to this
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) No, doesn't make it interesting all, makes it ridiculous. Why give a weaker team a better chance because two stronger teams go against each other and have one knocked out early? Just for arguments sake: Weaker teams? Is that still a thing? The top 5 teams in the Western conference are at a difference of 1-2 points. San Jose (number 6) has only one less win then Chicago (number 3). That would have been the matchup in the old system. Also, in the old system Anaheim (number 4) would be facing LA kings (number 5). But instead Anaheim (number 4) is facing Nashville (number 7) which I guess by your definition is a weaker matchup... Anyways the way I look at it. It's no longer a cake walk for any team. Every round requires a 100% effort to win. Right now Pittsburg and NYR are playing lights out and its only the first round. To be honest STL and Chicago has been fun to watch. And the next round will likely be between Dallas and Chi/STL which will be even more fun. Number19 159 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 Any requests for any other glorious Red Wings playoff appearances? Don't have to make these I'm just more or less reminiscing. Draper's OT goal vs WSH, Maltby's 3 blocks without a stick vs STL, Helm's shift vs Chi, Z's Conn Smythe shift, etc. Dmac's goal in 97 is a no brainer.
