Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 Some of these comments are hilarious ... Can we at least give the guy a full season before tearing him into shreds? Nyquist 4 goals in first 40 games in 2 seasons Tatar 5 goals in his first 27 games in 2 seasons Pulkkinen 5 goals in his first 34 games in 2 seasons What a bust ... I'm sure he'll be better utilized with Blashill as coach Let's wait and see what he does next season I'm not giving up on the guy. And I certainly hope and expect that he will improve with time. But what I said is 100% applicable to the case. His claim to fame is being an elite sniper in the AHL. That hasn't happened at all in the NHL. And what he really has going against him is that unfortunately he doesn't bring anything else to the table if hes not scoring. So he can either round out his game a bit and become a more complete player, or he can continue to bang his head against the wall until he becomes an elite NHL goal scorer. Both will take time, particularly the second option, and no coach will dedicate a spot in the lineup for very long for him to try and improve if he's not contributing in some way. So from how I'm seeing things, Pulkkinen is in a hard spot right now, and it's even tougher because Holland likes to have 30 forwards on the team competing for a handful of spots. And a lot of those guys can provide at least something on a night to night basis, which right now is more than what Pulkkinen can do.
marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 The bolded part is exactly why he won't net us anything close to a top 4 defenseman, other teams also have prospects like him hence why everyone is asking for the 2 ones with the greatest potential Larkin and Mantha. Of course he won't. I never said that, even. But a complementary piece in a package for one? Very possible if the right trade is out there.

Never disupted that sure if you throw him in to create a more enticing package for the other team that's a good idea.
kipwinger 8,732 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 There's a difference between trading him for a good player and "he sucks get rid of him." I know. The difference is sarcasm. 1 e_prime reacted to this
LeftWinger 5,090 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 I remember when we had a one trick pony named Hull. Slow, no PK skills, hardly played D, but hey he had something, a absolute ROCKET of a shot! Not saying he is the next Hull, but as long as he plays with defensively responsible line mates, what's wrong with having this one trick on our team? 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

Not saying he is the next Hull, but as long as he plays with defensively responsible line mates, what's wrong with having this one trick on our team? True. But then again Hull played in a different era and roster. In this era, a 200 foot game brings forth a huge advantage. There's not many players that can pull off the whole one dimensional game thing.. The only player we see pull this off these days is a guy like Ovechkin. But Ovie is a big, big man that can find space to take his shot. I think Pulk shud continue to improve his defensive game. Just my opinion. There's no reason not too either. Remember that Yzerman improved his defensive game under Bowman and eventually won a Selke. He literally went from a one dimensional player to a two dimensional player in the 90s.

I can see this happening but not sure about the Semin rumblings.

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Leafs have traded Jamie Devane to Nashville for Taylor Beck http://www.tsn.ca/leafs-acquire-beck-from-preds-for-devane-1.330412 And just like so the Leafs team is even getting softer. Man wish we could have traded for him, cheap fourth liner with great size and 3 line potential. Steal for Poile I think people after waiting till Franson's asking price will come down but then I expect Nill on line one as great as the stars offense is, the defense needs help.
