DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 Tatar - Datsyuk - Helm Cole - Zetterberg - Abdelkader Franzen - Sheahan - Nyquist Jurco - Weiss - Pulkkinen Would mean some PK responsibility for Pav and Hank, but 4 scoring lines is not entirely unrealistic. Let me introduce you to our coach, Mike Babcock.

Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 Please read above post. Could you come up with a softer 4th line that will be more useless in the playoffs? I'd rather have John Scott playing on the 4th line than Pulkinnen, who needs more icetime to be more productive. Also, why are people fascinated with putting Helm and Abby on the top 6, when their skill level is inferior to the guys on the lower lines? The coach has Abby and Helm in the top 6. Like it not, it works fairly well. That 4th line doesn't have the "poor linemates" problem you mention, and while the limited minutes would lower productivity it wouldn't reduce it to zero. Whether they'd be tough enough to fight through a physical defense is another question, but they're going to have to learn to do that no matter where they're playing in the lineup. I'm not really advocating those lines, as I think it's too much defensive responsibility to put on Pav and Hank. Just pointing out that we have the skill players to do it. The Datsyukian Deke 127 Report post Posted March 14, 2015 What about... Zetterberg - Datsyuk - AbdelkaderTatar - Sheahan - NyquistCole - Weiss - PulkinnenMiller - Glendening - JurcoKronwall - EriccsonQuincey - DeKeyserZidlicky - Smith No need to discuss the D pairings, so let's get to the forwards. Since our offense isn't going right now, I thought we should get back to those two first lines. The Eurotwins together with Abby looks like our best combination all year, and I simply cannot understand why we're not seeing the "Original Kid Line", that worked so well last season, at all this season. Let's put them back together, see Line 2. For the 3rd line, my idea is... 1. If we want to get Weiss to at least contribute (at this point, "live up to his contract" seems delusional to me...), he should play center. That's what he used to play for his whole career and if you want to get him going, don't put him on the wing. 2. Cole + Teemu on the same line could really boost our offense. I like the idea. If this works perfectly, fine. We would need to change some positions when Helm gets back, but at least we would have some value in Weiss. If it doesn't work, no problem - just let Helm center that 3rd line. And we get back our 4th line, which was an absolute plus in this formation, too. Thoughts? Something has to change in the d pairings. They're just not working recently and need a real boost. I've suggested in other thread. Kronwall-DK Quincey-Marcenko Zidlicky-Smith The third pairing seems to be working well so don't need to change it Edited March 14, 2015 by mvanpop

I'd get him in for Quincey for that absolutely abysmal display he put on today Yeah, I get the whole "good soldier" crap, but if Q needs surgery he should've gotten it. He would've been good to go for the playoffs, it's clear the past few games his mobility is shot with those bone chips. kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 Has Nyquist really earned a crack at the second line? Why not? If Tatar is allowed to play with one of the best center and get fed goals, Nyquist should have equal opportunity as well. He's still top 3 in goals on team.. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

He's still top 3 in goals on team.. Pavel hasn't been "feeding" Tatar anything. Pav has assisted on 6 of Tatar's goals. The same number that Sheahan has assisted on. And just ahead of Nyquist and Dekeyser, who have each assisted on 5 of his goals.
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 Why do you feel the need to argue everything anyone says? It's almost as if you analyze everything that's written here and try to pick out that one word that you can argue... So what if Datsyuk only assisted on 6 of Tatar's goals? Maybe "fed" wasn't the proper word to use, but can you argue that having Datsyuk on his line doesn't open up some space for Tatar, allowing him to score more? Or are you arguing that Nyquist shouldn't be on a line with Zetterberg for that same reason, despite being 3rd on the team in goals? Or are you seriously just arguing that one misuse of the word "fed"?... I'm sure you agree that Tatar should remain on Datsyuk's wing, so why bother researching such stats just to refute what he was saying? The premise of his argument still stands. Datsyuk and Tatar should be locked on a line together, and I believe Zetterberg and Nyquist should be locked on a line together for the same reason; they work really well together. On the other wing you can throw any one of Cole, Abdelkader, Helm, or Jurco and I'd be fine with that. 2 DatsyukianDekes and WingsallTheway reacted to this
