This is the most complete game I have seen all season probably and we didn't even have datsyuk. Holland should think long and hard about moving salary to keep Sheahan and Glendening around and even Jurco. Sheahan and Glendening should absolutely be here full time. Anything else would be ridiculous given the situation we're in. Gotta ice the best team possible. I can live with Jurco going down, he's gonna be a good one but still needs some time. Holland/Babcock can't justify playing Bert and Cleary much the rest of the season. Unless we get hit hard by injuries again. If Pav returns on tuesday that should be Cleary out of the lineup. It's gotta be hard having your coach talk about icing the best team possible and no one's job being safe and grabbing your piece of the pie when the truth is they have no chance at "real" roster spots this season, no matter how well they may perform. It's kinda cruel. But hockey is a business, and you don't pay a guy three million dollars to sit in the press box (unless he's Mikael Samuelsson), I guess. I was out with my wife last night and just followed the GDT but didn't post, same as during the Chicago game. The boys are looking good, hopefully this is the start of a long trend in the right direction. As far as Gustavsson, I think the biggest reason he was fighting the puck against the Hawks was a bit of rust. He seemed pretty sharp against MTL. We won't be happy about certain guys being sent down once everybody is healthy, but some of the young guys are going to be lighting it up down the road. The future is seeming much brighter than it did on the surface a couple of weeks ago. As a side thought, a Hobbit themed GDT could work nicely. Eaves seems to resemble Kili more than a little, imho. RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted January 25, 2014 Gustavsson still has a problem with rebound control, he got lucky on at least one occassion when the net was completely empty that the puck went to a Red Wing. He sometimes have a tendency to get out of position when making a save, so the relies on his defensemen to clear the puck and be in the right positions. He got the job done though. To be fair, we've been playing mostly good hockey for the past few games. Found a way to beat the Kings twice, deserved at least a point out of the Ducks and Rangers games.
