Nordiques 15 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Any fun things to do after the game? Restaurants, bars, comedy clubs?
Nordiques 15 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 This is coming from an outsider who's been to the Joe a handful of times these past few years...The "People Mover" light rail (50 cents 1 way, $1 roundtrip) will take you all over downtown Detroit (a stop right at the Joe), and goes out to the "Foxtown" area (Fox Theatre, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Hockeytown Cafe, and Cheli's Chili - Chris Chelios bar)...The Fox Theatre may have some shows/concerts while you're there. There's the Greektown Hotel/Casino in the aptly named "Greektown" neighborhood (can get their via the People Mover); lots of little bars/restaurants within a few blocks radius (Astoria Bakery, and Red Smoke BBQ are great). I stayed at the Greektown Hotel/Casino on my last visit; rooms are reasonable, very nice, and clean ($90 per night with AAA discount)...There's a pricey ($15) but really good breakfast buffet at the Greektown, and IMO the gambling there is rather dull/poor (tight slots, and rather high minimum bets at table games)...Overall it's a nice place while staying downtown with a fair number of establishments within a few blocks. Hope you guys have a great time! Thanks for the advice. We'll on be there for one night. The morning after, we're going to Toronto,s Hockey Hall of Fame. Peadydog 98 Report post Posted April 1, 2012 ya the corporate people also piss me off also. if they wanna buy them and pass them out to those who arent able to afford, or are just learning the game thats cool. but ya the wasted seats do kill me. i personally do have tickets for this game, but i was speaking more generally to the fans in the area. just think, 700 fans is nearly 2 whole sections worth of nordiques fans all of which will be wearing blue. why not pick a different game to do this? Oh, I don't know. Maybe because they are hockey fans, want to go to some games, their team left, they want to go on a road trip and have some fun? Quit being such a whiny baby and welcome them to the Joe. Careful, or you'll end up sounding like Adrian Dater - http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2012/03/04/postgame-avs-penguins-playoffs-slipping-away/9933/ 4 F.Michael, Uncle Danny and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

sputman 1,268 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 It looks like they're just out there to watch some hockey and remind everyone that they would like a team. Not hurting anyone, not getting angry or demanding. Just some folks having good, clean fun. Nothing wrong with that. awesome, in fact. 1 IllinoisRedWingsFan reacted to this
ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 I'm going to chime in, since I was at the game today and saw the Quebec following. They seemed to be great fans. They were all wearing Nordiques jerseys and took up a large area of both upper deck ends of the ice. They cheered loud the entire game for the Wings and in fact seemed into the game more than some of the "suit" types sitting near me. In my personal opinion it was nice to have them there as they truly seemed to enjoy the experience of The Joe.
vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 NBC showed them during intermission. It looked like they were having a good time. I hope they had a great experience at the Joe and that soon they won't have to travel so far to see a game in person. Too bad they couldn't sit in the lower bowl..... Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 Was at the game today.. They were great... Cheering at the 15:15 mark Good spirits. I talked to one of them and he said it has been a great trip, I wished him well. Lots of them there tho.... WOW!
Din758 371 Report post Posted April 8, 2012 Well I must be honest and give them credit, saw a ton of them today, and talked to a fe.w, they seemed like pretty cool people. We all get to taste our own foot every once in a while I guess...
Kira 451 Report post Posted April 8, 2012 We were at the game yesterday when they were there. I got to talk to some of them, and I wished them good luck getting a team back. They were incredibly kind, polite and wonderfully nice. Loud and rowdy too, but for a good cause. I do hope they get a team back...with fans who are willing to drive 14 hours for a game, that says something about their loyalty. In the meantime, I meant what I said to some of you - you're welcome back anytime. 1 F.Michael reacted to this
Nordiques 15 Report post Posted April 12, 2012 We had a blast at the game!! Detroit Red Wings fan are hardcore hockey fans!! At first the people around us weren't too sure of what was going on, but they soon find out we were there for the love of hockey! I had about 20 people come up tome askig why what was going on with all those Nordique Jerseys. And at the end of the game, a few people said we could come back any time! It was pretty awesome. Now, we sit and wait to see what's going to happen in Phoenix 4 F.Michael, Matt and atodaso reacted to this
