Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 I am hoping this is a fun night, thought it would help to have a unified thread to have everything dumped into. I will start off with the Brule for Smyth Flip.\ Gary apparently has made some friends in Winnipeg. Also offering a twitter retweet if you want to follow there. EJ was a nice touch. I will handle the draft update on picks. TY First pick might involve a trade. Rumors were a flip for the third pick. Oilers would pass on the best player for the better fit that way. The Wings trade out of the first collecting the 35,48 picks First Pick Edmonton Oilers select Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C Second pick Colorado select Gabriel Landeskog LW Third Pick Florida Panthers select Johnathan Huberdeau C Fourth Pick NJ select Adam Larsson D Fifth pick Islanders select Ryan Strome C Sixth Pick Sens select Mika Zibanejad C Seventh Pick Jets select Mark Scheifele C Eighth Pick Philly select Sean Couturier C Ninth Pick Boston select Doug Hamilton D Tenth Pick Wild select Jonas Brodin D Eleventh Pick Avs select Duncan Siemens D Twelfth Pick Canes select Ryan Murphy D Thirteenth Pick Flames select Sven Bartschi LW Fourteenth Pick Stars select Jaime Oleksiak D Fifteenth Pick Rangers select J.T. Miller C Sixteenth Pick Sabres select Joel Armira RW Seventeenth Pick Habs select Nathan Beaulieu D Eighteenth Pick Hawks select Mark McNeill C Nineteenth Pick Oilers select Oscar Kelfbom D Twentieth Pick Yotes select Conner Murphy D Twenty-first Pick Sens select Stefan Noeson RW Twenty-second Pick Leafs select Tyler Biggs RW Twenty-third Pick Pens select Joe Morrow D Twenty-fourth Pick Sens select Matt Puempel LW Twenty-fifth pick Leafs select Stuart Percy D Twenty-sixth pick Hawks select Phillip Danault LW Twenty-seventh pick Yzerman selects Vladislav Namestnikov C Twenty-eight pick Wild select Zack Phillips C Twenty-ninth pick the Riot select Niclas Jensen LW Final pick of the first round Ducks select Rickard Rakell RW Thanks again for everyone who participated. Thanks for all the positive remarks for my work today. I appreciate the sentiment. See you all tomorrow.
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Just turned it on. I'm really sick of the boos/booers. . They were rampant last night at the NBA draft and again tonight. That woman's husband just died, and the idiots just HAVE to boo Bettman. I don't care if he came out with them hoping that would discourage them from booing. These idiots are either drunk or stupid. Or both. Other than that, they're comparing Nugent-Hopkins to Datsyuk. That's a lot to live up to, kid! Edited June 24, 2011 by Vladifan
Dave 324 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 RNH #1, Edmonton's offense will be amazing in a few years, but their D sucks.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Smyth trade NOT confirmed by Oilers GM. Might be a trade offer for the Avs pick, based solely on delay. GABRIEL LANDESKOG second pick Colorado Avs. Edited June 24, 2011 by Majsheppard
Dave 324 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Someone tripped over a cable! I'm not big on junior players but I've not heard of this guy. Wow, Landeskog has absolutely no accent. Edited June 24, 2011 by Dave 1 Majsheppard reacted to this
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Feed was lost, scared me. JONATHAN HUBERDEAU is the likely third pick. Landeskog is the type of player who could end up being their captain. Great pick. If someone wants to make sure they get Larsson, here is where you trade. Third Pick Florida Panthers select Johnathan Huberdeau C 1 Dave reacted to this
Dave 324 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Third Pick Florida Panthers select Johnathan Huberdeau C You called that one. Any info on this guy?
plopster 136 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Pretty lame that Winnipeg still doesn't have a logo Edited June 24, 2011 by plopster 1 Majsheppard reacted to this
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 NJ has a tough call now, do they go with the Dman they like best or that the world likes best. Larsson is the most likely call next. You called that one. Any info on this guy? Protects the puck, compared to Zetterberg. He really is a calm player. They love him in Florida.
Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Displeased that the Avs didn't take Larsson, so Lando damned well better work out as expected (and not become a character 3rd line energy forward sort).
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Word has it they like RYAN MURPHY more. Larsson more likely.
Dave 324 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 I thought after Florida's draft last year they'd be pretty decent. I always root for the underdog. I pick the Panthers on be a GM mode on NHL 11. I hope they can turn it around.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 (edited) Fourth Pick NJ selects Adam Larsson D Islander could go any way right now. Odds are they want a Defenseman, but they could try and get more scoring to draw crowds. Couturier or Hamilton likely picks next. Fifth pick Islanders take Ryan Strome C Wrong Ryan to take IMO. I digress. Sens pick next, and they need everything. Some think that there could be a trade here involving this pick for Gaborik. I doubt that, but we shall see quickly. My prediction is offense --- Sean Couturier C. Didn't work last time, might as well try again. Sixth Pick Sens take MIKA ZIBANEJAD C The climber of the draft. The winner of the draft so far, jersey makers. Lots of letters to throw on jerseys. Edited June 25, 2011 by Majsheppard
Dave 324 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Zibanejad reminds me of this guy: 1 Majsheppard reacted to this
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 I am done predicting now, it is getting harder. Winnipeg is up. The pick will wear god knows what... The Blackhawks are rumored to have made a different move... No word as to what. Troy Brouwer to Sens perhaps... Seventh Pick Jets take MARK SCHEIFELE C Bit of a surprise there... These picks are making it better for us, keep leaving defensemen there. I guess Scheiffle is THE climber of the Draft. What a rise... 1 Dave reacted to this
dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 @brianlawton9: Hearing Ryan Ellis to boston for the 9th pick!" Could this mean Kaberle's replacement for the power play?
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Eighth Pick Philly turns Carter into... My guess would be a Center...
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Eighth Pick Philly select Sean Couturier C CBJ made a mistake, they should have kept the pick getting a center like that. Much like Carter. I am going on a limb, but I think he ends up being better than Carter.

I am going on a limb, but I think he ends up being better than Carter. Nash isn't getting any younger. I don't think they wanted to wait and develop a player for him. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 (edited) Ninth Pick Boston selects Doug Hamilton D Boston gets stronger that is for sure. Hamilton MIGHT go to an Ivy league school to play though... Johnny Diamonds 25 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Watching the Tigers I forgot all about the draft. Just pulled up a stream and tracker. So what the heck is going on? Why did 3 teams pass on a defensemen billed to be the next Nick Lidstrom? Are they stupid or insane. Especially a sh!t organization like Florida.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Tenth Pick Wild select Jonas Brodin D DAMN IT!!! That was the safest pick for us... We now have some interesting options available. My pick for the Wings is still available.
