2/4 GDT: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 5

Wings win 5-1.

While Helm has the puck against the boards, Kopecky mistakenly hits him and the puck caroms off Bryzgalov and goes in.

Cheli deflects a puck off Carcillo's nose and Dats tips it mid-air into the Yotes' net. Cheli is then heard saying, "You wanna see me do that again?" For weeks after, Carcillo will be called "Pinnochio".

Dats, Hossa and Zets team up for eight passes up the ice for a goal, and Bryzgalov and three other Yotes end up with their jock straps around their necks. Refs almost forfeit the game to the Wings for the game delay.

Lidstrom scores from the other blue line and Gretzky lliterally implodes. Big Al tells their team, "YOU clean it up. I just do ice." The refs DO call a game delay and help hunt down the squeegees and mops.

Ozzie slams the puck up the ice and after it careens off two Coyote players and three refs, it goes in the net. (After the game, some people will swear they see Oz scratching his nose with his middle finger. ...Wonder what that's all about?...!)

Within a week, Bettman will propose a rule change saying NO team can possess the puck more than 10 minutes a period. He is demoted to marketing all the warm climate hockey teams.

Awesome. Truly awesome.

Ozzie just played.. so why are we starting him again? Especially given his performance against this team last time.

EDIT: I really hope the SO win will boost the team to play better. They needed it.

My guess is that Ozzie played extremely well in the third period and on in the last game, and Babcocke wants to keep him playing to see if he will continue playing like that. Ozzie's been slumping, so when he plays well, reward him, and see if he can continue to play like that. The better he plays, the more he plays. The original idea was for Ozzie to be the #1, and Conklin the backup, no? If Ozzie can get back to last year's form, then I would feel far more confident with him in net in the PO's, than Conklin. My 2 cents.

Could be a statistical thing as well. Ozzie might have better career numbers against Phoenix than Conklin.

Osgood's last time against them went better than Conklin's...did you get the goalies mixed up? Conklin gave up 5 and we lost last time we played Phoenix.

You're probably right. I was just a bit confused seeing as we normally switch goaltenders on and off.
