Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Holland and the Wings brass were watching the Oilers/Avs game in Edmonton tonight. Not speculating anything, just saying he was there. If he was scouting, Stoll, Moreau and Staios looked good I'd take Stoll and Staios. But Staios is locked up til' 2012 i dont really like that. Stoll is ok, i don't see why we'd need Moreau he wouldn't give us any scoring touch that we lack.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I'd take Stoll and Staios. But Staios is locked up til' 2012 i dont really like that. Stoll is ok, i don't see why we'd need Moreau he wouldn't give us any scoring touch that we lack. Moreau brings other qualitys. He always finshes his checks, great penalty killer, leader, fighter, Canadian . Plus, for a 3rd liner, he's got better offence then most. Franzen, Kopecky, Draper, Drake, Maltby, He's a better scorer then them. I'd take all 3 actually, Stoll brings a good 2-way presence, with some size and is good at faceoffs. Staios is tough as nails and has a pretty good shot for a defensive defenseman.
HenryMalredo 2 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Moreau would be such a great addition. As would Staios. Moreau...............eh, good player, but this team has enough 3rd liners. Staios would be nice, but his contract is too big for what he brings to the table.
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Well Moreau got injured tonight so everybody can drop his name now He's just another draper, malts, drake type player anyways!
Henkka 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Markov would have to clear waivers if the Wings were to sign him, so he won't be returning. DAMN! How come Salami didn't have to clear waivers when he decided to get off his lazy ass? I was talking to some Kings fans, what about getting Cammalleri and Stuart from LA. They were suggesting Kindl, Kopecky and a #1. Get 'er done Kenny! Selänne was without contract to any league = no waivers. Markov is contracted to Russian club. Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) All this talk about trading with Edmonton, Id like to have Hossa or Ollie, as long as the prices is not to "High", What is a High price for Hossa, Hudler? I would gladly trade a struggling Hudler for a guy who will produce NOW and with all our defensive woes right now Id have to think a Minor deal will be made for a mid-range d-man When Nick Comes back and Rafalski gets healthy and Chelli is good to go we will be awesome again with Kronwall back in on tuesday so to spend a lot of time on D-Men to me would not be a good chioce to make right now our problem Isnt D Its lack of offense, Losing 1-0 1-0 come on !! cant score ONE GOAL so Deadline deals for me would be this Hudler,(other comp.) for Hossa and possibly a middle of the road D-Man aquisition Edited February 25, 2008 by Hockeytown_Ryan
FirstSamuel1745 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Just wanted to float something out there - "The Fourth Period" is reporting that the Islanders are taking offers for Satan, Fedotenko, and Comrie. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/nyi080225.html Any of these guys strike you as worthwhile additions? I've always like Fedotenko - he's always struck me as a Dan Cleary-type, and let's not forget he played a big role in Tampa's Cup run. Just thinking out loud. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Satan would be dynamite! Again it all comes down to price. Ken should wait until that last hour to drop the price. Better to lose out than to give away our pix/prospects...
GMRwings1983 8,802 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 What do you want to bet you're wrong? (Honestly, a username change...whatever you want) Holland's going to make at least one deal. He's not going to let this cap space go to waste. I hope you're right. Also, I'm not much of a betting man, so I'm sorry I can't take you up on your offer. Moreau brings other qualitys. He always finshes his checks, great penalty killer, leader, fighter, Canadian . Plus, for a 3rd liner, he's got better offence then most. Staios is tough as nails and has a pretty good shot for a defensive defenseman. He'd also bring Rachel Hunter from what I hear. Satan would be dynamite! Again it all comes down to price. Ken should wait until that last hour to drop the price. Better to lose out than to give away our pix/prospects... A team can't win the Stanley Cup with a guy named Satan in their lineup. I'm afraid God just wouldn't let it happen.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I wouldn't mind Fedotenko or Satan. Keep in mind though, I'd still like a blockbuster (who doesn't?) like Hossa. THe problem with getting some role players is they have to be able to consistently produce for a second line. Anything below second line is redundant. As other people have posted, we have Draper, Malts, Downey, Drake, Kopecky, etc. We really need solid goal scoring more than some low-end depth.

I like the idea of Hossa, if they could sign him and still be able to put a good team around him, Dats and Zetterberg. Wouldn't have to worry about the second line for a few years. All Staios is an average 5th or 6th d man on Detroit, Moreau is a younger Maltby and Stoll has done nothing to show that he could be a number 2 center on this team. Horrible, I don't want any of these bums unless we get em all for Sammy. Other than that stay the hell away from Edmonton they suck for a reason!

I don't know how the numbers would look, but if they could manage to swing Hossa and someone like Satan that would be better than one or the other. Then of course, go for Defense, but keep in mind our defense will all be healthy in the coming weeks, so it's not as important as some have made it out to be. We shouldn't sell the farm for defense. evantt43 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Keeping in mind that we're dealing with a cap and Z, Clears are due some serious $$$$ in their next contracts. Lets try this one with Toronto. GET: Nik Antropov big 20 goal center with 1 year remaining @ 1.95m and Wade Belak big nasty 7th D @625,000 SEND: Hudler 1 year remaining @ 880,00 ,Samulson 1 year remaining @ 1.2m and a 3rd round pick Serves our needs, reasonably increases our cap but leaves plenty of $$$ to sign Z & Clears. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) I hope Kenny deals Kronner and the rights to Kindl for a quality dman. I respect Kronwall's ability, but he's too reckless to last. They should deal him before it's too late. It's a painful proposition, but I'd do it. Kindl's a lilja protege... Yemack 1 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Lapointe (we need this guy, much more so than any other team) : pick or maybe someone traderable down in farm. I would go so much to put Huds in the deal and get Lapointe plus a pick in return. Stuart (would be very nice but if too expensive, let someone else pay the price) : this guy probably has a unreasonable price tag. We already gave LA a free gift in Ellis, offer Meech or Leb or Quincey and maybe a pick. LA might have need for Goalies, send someone in the farm Hossa (only if we can sign him long term) : Filp and meech or Leb. if it doesnt work, Huds for the deal clincher. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I cant believe this deadline...Somebody move already. I gotta say. The Wings OBVIOUSLY could use another Dman, and well get one, and it makes me wonder why we havent moved on one yet. The only thing that makes sense to me is that we´re in play for a really big name and want to see what we´ll have left over if we land the big fish..

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Wasn't McCarty supposed to sign by noon today to avoid waivers? No to be able to be waived and eligible for the playoffs. Now he can only do a 2 week conditioning stint in the AHL before being recalled if he is toeligible for playoffs....at least I think that is what they have been saying...its all kind of confusing.
