MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 The Minnesota Wild have claimed enforcer Todd Fedoruk off re-entry waivers from the Dallas Stars. The two clubs will split his $875,000 salary on their respective caps.
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 How Ironic, Boogaard smashes Fedoruks face in and now they will be patrolling the ice together. But why would Minny want another enforcer....

Maybe for the next time the Wild and the Canucks play, since no one wanted to fight Boogy, nor do I blame them

GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 I kinda wish we woulda snagged him, put him in with Double D. boi oh boi!! Why would we need him? We already have Lilja, Downey, and Kopecky. Any team in the league would be begging for that kind of muscle.
12Newf 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 fedoruk has a history of concussion problems not to mention the fact that he recently had his face put back together. the guy never seems to win fights but rather lose them spectacularly (see boogard v fedoruk and fedoruk v orr). he doesnt really seem worthwhile at 875k. But at approx. $328,125 (approx cap hit of $437,500 with 1/4 of season gone), he's worth a gamble, at least in the eys of Risebrough and Lemaire.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Fedoruk adds some toughness to a very weak Wild team (minus Boogaard, of course). Their toughest player after Boogaard is Stephane Veilleux, which isn't saying much. I can't believe he's still going, though, to be honest. He's become a pretty weak fighter. He got his bell rung twice last year (Boogaard and Orr), and hasn't looked exactly good yet this season either.

That's funny. Both Lilja and Downey were available to everyone at one point, and Kopy is a big body, but that's about it.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Good for Todd! I find it strange though, that the guy who almost ruined Fedoruks career, is probably gonna play with him now.

Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 Well, if we are going to give a roster spot to an enforcer then I think that he should: A. not be injury prone B. can play hockey C. plays to win, not to fight Downey is all of those, Fedoruk none. Thats a very uninformed post. You must not know anything about Todd Fedoruk if you think Downey is the better hockey player. Fedoruk's injury problem is the ONLY reason Downey is the better option and why i'd rather have him. Fridge has always been the better fighter throughout his career and by far the better player. It's unfortunate that Fedoruk is nothing more than a makeshift tough guy anymore. He was a good, entertaining fighter in his prime, and wasn't a bad hockey player either. At this point, though, Downey is better. Fedoruk isn't the fighter he once was. Edited November 24, 2007 by Kp-Wings

Fedoruk was one of the best playing enforcers, my issue is with the guy saying Downey is the better hockey player. Im not saying i want Fedoruk over him, because he's way too much of an injury risk, but skill level sure as hell aint the reason why.

Im not saying i want Fedoruk over him, because he's way too much of an injury risk, but skill level sure as hell aint the reason why. The problem is that Fedoruk would be another Parker or the guy the Wings had last season who accounted for most of the fights (I have blocked out his name from my memory). I'm not saying he can't shoot, skate, and even score; but Downey is the better fit with the Wings style of play. Which is Option A: Keep the puck and make a play or Option B: Dump and Chase and Grind. Downey can perform the latter much better IMO.
Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 Still wouldnt hurt to of snagged him, and tried to of sent Ellis back down to GR. have Fed be a reserve. and when we need a enforcing line we put the Double D Twins, and Fedoruk on 1 line. and that wuld be punishing.
