I was thinking about this last year when I was at the Denver airport on a shuttle bus with my 3 year old, and the bus had to have been going 50-60 miles and hour. In my car my toddler is buckled in a secure car seat but at the same speed on a bus he’s sitting on my lap with no protection at all. I started looking at the airport logistics closer after that and now avoid any situation where we need to be transported in that manner.

It seems we are over sensitive because the internet has given a voice to the population at large, and the remaining sensitive ones use that mouth piece to drown out the silent stable masses, but during the times of the philosophers you mentioned, people were routinely executed for offending the beliefs of others. The world is becoming a better place to live with every passing day, each generation builds off the toil of the one that came before, similar to skill level increases in our beloved sport.

Everyone seems to be forgetting about the one player absent from the 2008 team that could do it all, Igor Larionov. These thought exercises are tough though, only six years earlier, old slow guys could still be successful like Hull and Larionov, but a lot changed by 2008, even more so now.

Well I was going to be routing for Vegas to win it all this year but now I suppose we need them to lose early.

Should we be trying to land someone like Tavares who would be better on a team that’s ready to win now, or should we focus on building through the draft and trading for young prospects. It seems like we are 5-8 years from being contenders if all goes well, so getting someone who will be out of their prime by then is pointless. Stop Gap mediocre players like Neilsen I don’t mind as much. Keep in mind I can’t watch any games so my estimation of our success is probably baseless.

Both Tyler Wright and Ken Holland spoke highly of Rasmussen's off ice character, and it seemed, at least in the short interviews, that it weighed heavily in their decision. I know virtually nothing about this process, does this seem to anyone as a valid reason for picking him over other players that were ranked better?

That's the point, there's an argument to made for eating them as organisms use other organisms to survive, but we don't want a market for gorilla hands (there is one for some reason) but if eating gorillas was important in keeping human around I'd probably eat a gorilla. Of course they may be an argument for not eating octopi at all but I don't know that I'm prepared to present it. Similar to this situation, I'd be opposed to the pepperoni throwing enough to discuss its merits on this forum, but am not going to picket outside the arena.

I mean outdated in the sense that as time passes we scrutinize our actions and traditions to evaluate if they are harmful or contribute to our overall wellbeing. Rivers are no longer used for waste disposal (outside of New Jersey haha) because we realized it was harmful. While this is not as impactful a situation the same scrutiny can be applied. Peta is an extreme organization and as that qualifier implies, there is a middle ground between the opposing ideologies. Usually what is sensible lies somewhere Between the two. Should we kill gorillas and elephants for trophies and ivory? Should we instead outlaw killing all animals even for food? Certainly not, but can we recognize that octopi are intelligent and emotionally complex beings and maybe eating them is acceptable but throwing a dead octopus or chicken or whatever on the ice for the sake of remembering a group of guys who were really good at hockey is something we can turn the page on? Anyway, that's my thoughts on the matter.

I don't know about fined, but it's kind of an outdated tradition. I don't mind killing animals to eat them as much, but Octopi are intelligent animals and throwing them on the ice seems wasteful.
