...and with that, I think this discussion has run its course. Report the spammers, whenever they rear their ugly heads.

Hello everyone! First off, sorry about all the recent spam attacks. It sucks, but unfortunately there's not really much the mod or admin staff can do to prevent them from happening in the first place. Since we can't do anything preventative, we have to focus on being reactive when the attacks come in. When an LGW user uses the Report function, it sends an email to each member of the staff to alert us. Granted, there aren't as many active mods now as there have been in the past, so it may take some time for us to get to it. LGW's mod tools make cleaning up a spam attack very easy, so once we're aware of the spammer, we can clear it out quickly and easily. I can't promise that I will be more active on LGW like I was in years past. Family and work concerns understandably take up a significant chunk of my time. But I will promise to at least be more reactive to reports from members, and address any future spam attacks in a more timely manner. Thanks for your patience, and thanks to the members that have posted reports about the spammers.

Steve Yzerman to step down as GM for TBL. Will serve in "Advisory Role".
Jedi replied to kliq's topic in General
Hope everything is ok with him and his family, his health, etc. Going to temper my excitement for a while, as this could be one of a number of things. Certainly hope he makes his way "Home" one day, but that's at least a season away, regardless. (Took a hell of a lot of restraint to not do a little happy dance at work when I first saw the news...) -

Friendly reminder that LGW is a politics-free zone! Keep the discussion hockey-focused, please. Plenty of places elsewhere on the internet to discuss any possible political aspects of this tragedy. -

Very sad to have heard this news this morning. Strader was easily one of the best in an often unbearable industry. Strader did the play-by-play for the Wings/Hawks Winter Classic in '09. It was originally supposed to be Doc Emrick, but he came down with laryngitis or something like that, and Strader stepped in. Absolutely made my day when I heard Strader's voice instead of Emrick's that day. The hockey world lost a giant today. He will be sorely missed.

Olczyk is arguably one of the most biased color commentators I've ever seen in any sport. The fact that NBC sports allows him to work on a national telecast when either the Blackhawks (and to a lesser extent, the Penguins) are playing is a flat out disgrace. That said, I absolutely wish him a full and speedy recovery from this. Hoping he'll be back for me to mute soon!

At least we got the modified NTC for the final year, when we could possibly be sellers for Daley's contract... Not thrilled by this signing, but not disgusted by it either. I'm just concerned about the possible backlog of Jensen/Ouellet/Sproul if our 1-5 is healthy. -
Red Wings sign D Luke Witkowski to 2 year, 750k/yr contract. Will play as F.

Haven't had much hockey after then in the last few years anyway... To me, both Holland and Blashill need to go. Holland is very obviously in over his head in the Salary Cap world, and I'm sincerely hoping he walks after his contract is up next year. Blashill has seen significant player regression in his 2 years here. Obviously, much of that lies on the shoulders of the players themselves, but the coach has to be responsible (read: Held Responsible) for that regression as well. The roster is too talented to be playing as poorly as we are playing. It's too bad Montreal jumped on picking up Claude Julien. Would have liked to see him have a chance with this roster.
