Bigger Picture Question - What was the deciding factor?
EastLansingNative replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Our superstars need to score like superstars, and our depth needs to surprise everyone with tons of offense. We've won cups with one or the other, or both, it's tough to win without either. That, and yeah, the bounces were rough... -
Which defunct team would you like to see make a comeback?

The Portland Rose Buds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland_Rosebuds -
The above definition says nothing of winning or losing. I'm a Wings fan. Period. I was born and raised in Michigan, and if you figure out a way to undo that, maybe you'll find a way to lessen my loyalty to the Wings. I don't give up on them, even if they were give up on themselves. What do you do when the Mule is Hungry? FEED THE MULE!!!

Link is cryptic, looks abbreviated... frantically trying to get a stream... help?

I'm a high school drop out, and I find that clip highly offensive.

I think that rather plump american girl accidentally sat on your medal.

Nevermind, I'm going to go be an "asshat" and watch it in HD on TV.

So is the feed on NBC live yet? It says I'm eligible, but doesn't show that it's started yet. -
BOOYAH! I'm watching curling as we speak. (Comcast is eligible...) Anyone want to watch with me? I can't get away from work long enough to research setup myself, so I need a hand to get it done quick!
-
Not sure if my cable meets the requirements for me to watch a live feed, but I'm not seeing anything immediately that says I'm ineligible. Only thing I am seeing is that the game hasn't started yet, and I can get a TXT alert sent when it does start. If I can watch it from my PC: Is there anyone out there that has experience with setting up a stream that could walk me through it in 10 minutes? (I'm 1337 , so if you know what you're doing, we should be able to get it going pretty quick.) I've got upstream to spare as well... but if everyone jumps on and it makes it so I can't work, I'll have to shut it down.

I like this idea, and it would certainly be more feasible than an RF based system. Plus, how cool would it be to get a shot of the Zamboni blades spinning directly above the lens.

I work with barcode scanners, wireless networking, and RFID for a living. Been at it for over a decade. On paper, yes one could design a system, but in the real world, it would not achieve the accuracy or consistency that the game requires. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio-frequency_identification There are many types of tags; active, passive, battery assist passive. There are many different frequencies, and some dual band tags. There is a TON of, what we call in the industry, "VooDoo" involved with this technology. It is still very much "bleeding edge". (Not very accurate or consistent.) The absolute best you're going to get with this technology is about a 12" x 12" square, and the smaller you make it, the less chance you have of getting good reads when something actually enters the read zone. RFID is ok for large round types of spaces (Think: forklift driving into the back of a semi truck trailer to load pallets of product) because you've got large directional antennas on the reader that are bombarding the general vicinity with RF to "exite" the tag, and initiate a response. In the diagram below, if the gray rectangles are your antennas, and the blue shaded areas are your read zone, you're looking at my 30-second version of the best case scenario... ...not good. (And for all you syntax snobs out there: In our industry, insects have antennae, Systems Engineers install antennas) And for anyone that wants to suggest putting an antenna under the ice: Water absorbs RF, and ice even more so. The other main issue is that RF goes where it's not supposed to sometimes, and every time the puck landed on the back of the net, or bounced off a post, or came within 3"-6" of the net area, you'd have your good goal indicator triggered. As the technology, accuracy, and consistency of this technology improve, I'll let you know if I come across a feasible option. As far as some sort of contact based stripe/paint whatever, that's out of my realm of expertise, and I cant speak to it.

YES!!! Seattle, WA or Portland, OR!!! Oregon only has 1 pro team, the Trail Blazers. Even though it's basketball and during the same time of year, when the Blazers are losing nobody goes to their games. We have a WHL team, the WinterHawks, and they already have a pretty good following.

Anybody got a link to a stream for us lazy folk that are on the road for work and can't get to their Center Ice subscription?

I figured it was either something to motivate the players, or something for the production crew. I found this: Sennheiser Headset Microphone B And This: Sennheiser Website

A very large money clip. Happy birthday to all, and to all a good night!

Ozzie signed my hat, but he was at work. (at a practice in L.A. that was open to the public.) He seemed very happy to do it. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to find out that really was him, but I suppose we'll never really know. Rock on OZ! Keep stoppin' pucks, and shuttin' up the haters! Edit: You can get internet on Delta flights, but it's a recent thing. I don't doubt a private jet would have similar technology.

If what people are saying about Laraque is true, wouldn't he at least have potential? We've established that he has class, and is no "Avery". That being the case, don't you think a coach could instruct him on when to fight, without having to worry about him taking stupid penalties by making the decision (poorly) on his own? I haven't watched Laraque play a great deal, but from what I've heard here, he may not be your typical enforcer, but he contains all the necessary ingredients to be "enforcer putty" for Babcock to properly mold.
