I really like anywhere from 211-218 as low as you can go. My brother and I had 8th row in 216 for Game 4 against the Sharks, and we were right by the organist. We were close enough to the action, especially being on the end where they shoot twice, but high up enough where you aren't paying too much. I don't like to go higher than row 18 in the upper bowl. In the lower bowl, I've sat in 123 row 3 right next to the Wing's bench which was awesome, except I've never been handed a stick like some people. I like being that close because you feel the action and you see the changes, but your view is partially blocked by the glass for seeing down at the other end. There is no bad seat in the house except the porcelain one. It's just a matter of preference for everyone.

Well, now that my bubble is burst, I'll go with Conks. It's funny how my choices have rotated with the seasons: 2008-2009: I wanted to see Jimmy up instead of Conklin. 2009-2010: I wanted to see us keep Conklin and leave Jimmy in GR. 2011-2012: I wanted Ozzie over Conklin. Ah well, I'm a goalie girl at heart. And the goalies end up breaking my heart . . .

I know, right? I can't go wrong with a Lids jersey retired or not, but I confess, I was waiting for the news before dropping $150+. And my coworker nearly gave me a heart attack at work when she came by me and started speaking: "Lidstrom is r---" That's all I heard as my heart stopped in my chest . . . and then started beating again when the rest of her sentence registered in my ears "is returning for another year." Woo Hoo!! September just got a little brighter.

No offense to Stampkos, because a puck is definitely different than a board, but I love that he comes back out with the full face cage and Franzen came out with nothing more than a tampon stuck up his nose. Roli is standing on his head! Go Bolts!

To finish up Round 1 before Round 2, here are pics after Game 3: & Game 4: Love seeing all that red! Keep it going, boys, against the Sharks!

Happy Birthday to a very special guy, our captain! Have a good one, Nick!

That is my new favorite verb! Kronner has been excellent this year. He said himself that at points during this season, he was overthinking and making some dumb mistakes, and he really tried to work on those. It seems he has because he made some really great moves this series.

Bryz was too busy staring at Franzen's face to worry about the puck on that goal! Frankenfranzen! -

Glad I didn't miss the first three minutes of this game!! Go boys, keep at it! Speaking of coincidences, today at work, I got a package from Alex Delvecchio Industries. Didn't even know there was such a thing. -
I was very much kidding with that statement. I'm definitely NOT that kind of girl. I wouldn't be able to stand myself if I didn't keep everything clean shaven!

Who says I not doing that too? I'm like Z. Two games in and I've already got that girl beat, especially under the arms! Ha ha!

WCQF Game 2 GDT: Coyotes 3 at Red Wings 4

The game was so great today. I've been to a few playoff games before, but I have never heard the crowd (myself included ) so into it. I got such a big kick out of the "Todd Ber-Tuz-Zi" chants and loved that Franzen got his share of chants, especially after he returned to the ice. Today was just a weird game, though. I was surprised how passive everything seemed, especially at the start of the 1st period, almost like it was a regular season game. After all the talk, I expected Phoenix to come out with a bang, and instead, they looked like they were skating through mud or more so, like it was the last minute of a game and they were down by 10 and were giving up. Unfortunately, with no noticeable resistance, Detroit pared back their energy too somewhat. They really could have laid into Phoenix even more than they did if they had played with a little more energy and hustle themselves. They did a really good job for most of the game, but when Phoenix started scoring on the PPs and starting getting some life back into them, Detroit was kind of caught off guard. Thankfully, Phoenix was still not really bringing it, otherwise, the game could have gone to OT. As far as the penalties go, I say it was a mix of some good calls, some blatantly bad miscalls (Franzen), and the refs just interfering too much (as Mickey would say, just let them play). I'm beginning to believe that just as refs think Holmstrom=goalie interference/goals waived off, the same is true of the refs thinking DRW=call anything and everything even if it's not there. We've become the Tomas Holmstrom of the NHL. They see the winged wheel, and the whistle blows before it barely touches the refs' lips, especially in the playoffs. Three pluses to the game: (1) Got to meet Kirk Maltby after the game as he was coming out of the press box and got his signature (thank God I put that sharpie in my purse before the game), (2) got to meet and chat with T. Campbell (the DJ at the Joe) who gave me a CD of the music he plays and told me the name of a song that was driving me crazy, and (3) rode back to Hockeytown cafe on a shuttle bus that turned into a party bus as all of us fans (some pretty well wasted) chanted (to the delight of fans we passed who were walking by), booed and bitched out Doan, and heckled Phoenix fans out the window. A great time overall! Keep it going, Wings! On to Phoenix to keep the momentum going! -
Thank you, MulesWillFly93 and wingnut22, for your suggestions. I had my beads already, but nothing to put them on other than flimsy bead thread, so I went out and got the black leather cord like you guys. I wanted a clasp, but nothing was going to work out, so I just tied the string to make an adjustable necklace, and I can untie it add more beads as needed. I've done the bracelets with letter beads before, but I never had time to braid the bracelets. I like this a little bit better because it is prettier! Here's my necklace after Game 1: And after today's Game 2:

I'm heading down to the game now. Go Wings!! Here's to a great game and a spectacular Jimmy performance! -
Very creative, Matt! They're all great, but I like the "viva la octolution" design best.
-
How do you fasten your necklace (close it off to keep the bead on) yet still keep it where you can continue to add beads every so many days? I wanted to do a necklace this year too, but I don't know how to handle the closing and opening of the necklace. I found some cute crystal beads too, but the hole is so small, I can't fit a chain through there, only string.

I'll be rocking the bracelet tradition with a twist this year. Last year, I never had enough time to put the red or white bracelet together before the next game, so I will either do a bracelet/anklet or necklace and put a red or white bead on it for each win or loss. Hope there's a helluva lot of red on it! Go Wings!

WTF!?! As clean as the blood that was trickling down Franzen's face.

Chicago would have to lose in regulation and Dallas would have to win in regulation to have a chance for 8th seed. If I figured this out correctly, these are the tiebreakers: Tiebreaker 1 (Games Played): 82, tied Tiebreaker 2 (Greater Number of Games played excluding SO wins): 38, tied Tiebreaker 3 (Greater Number of Points Earned in Games Between the Tied Clubs): Dallas (3 wins, 6 points) over Chicago (1 win, 2 points)

I was at the game last night, and sad to say, I was paying more attention to the songs than the game by the third period. I heard this one, and they say "whoa" at lot but it could sound like "oh." Although, nobody was chanting or singing along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f3eAIo2YHs Also, does anyone know the song they play more regularly at the Joe, sometimes, like last night, during the T-Shirt toss? It's kind of techno, and I really didn't catch many lyrics. I think they mention t-shirts in the lyrics.

I am assuming that Game 1 will be the 13th and Game 2 will be the 15th, maybe the 16th. As far as what's on the tickets, they read something along the lines of "Stanley Cup Playoffs Quarter Finals--Round 1--Game 1 TBA." At least that's what mine says.

While I don't understand Babs' reasoning in Miller, Ozzie, or Modano's situations, since it appears he has no room for sentiment, he does still surprise me by giving the guys leave to go visit their families (Stuart and Salei), unless that's more Holland's decision than Babs'.
-
Yeah, but it also looked like he was cradling his right arm as he skating off. Either way, please be okay, Jimmy!

Happy Birthday, Jimmy! Have a good game tonight.
