I think we need a good banger as much as a fighter to pair up with Helm. Having Helm hit consistently as much as he did during the playoffs wouldn't last long. With his size, its only a matter of time before he would get hurt, and then his speed would go to waste. Pair him up with a strong 2nd forechecker to crush the guy receiving the 1st pass and throw down when necessary. Laraque ain't that guy. We need a hungry young guy.

Colton Orr would have made a nice addition as well IMHO, but thats another moot point. I will continue to defer to Kenny's judgement however.

tennis elbow reeeaally sucks. it made me and a couple people i know quit playing because it doesn't really go away. the doctor's recommendation is almost always just "whatever you're doing to make it hurt - don't do that". of course we didn't have pro quality trainer and phys therapists.

In all the celebration, it seems the fact the Wings didnt give up a PP goal last night seems to have been overshadowed. In the absence of Lids and Big Rig the whole team seemed to play defense much tighter. Stuart was amazing - and made me cringe everytime he blocked a shot. The forwards did a great job of not running around on the PK, and also just busting their ass backchecking to keep the 4.5 D fresh. I'm hoping the game last night offered some good lessons in the forwards' defensive responsibility that we can really use against Malkin and Crosby. 1 PPG a game certainly doesnt seem sustainable.

I haven't been there myself, but I know Professor Thom's on 2nd Ave b/w 13th and 14th is where people go to watch Michigan games.
