RWN_HQ (east) Game Day get together 1/19/13
redwingslady87 replied to HOCKEY MATTERS's topic in Group Events
Sorry Dan, I have to work early the next morning. I'll check the schedule and maybe we can make future plans though. -
Illitch "definitely committed" to new downtown arena

There is already Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida so I doubt that it takes on the Amway name. Possibly another Detroit name though. Motor City Arena anyone? -
Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

I think the visitor locker rooms need a fresh coat of paint after Weber has been showing off his head bashing skills to anyone who thinks it's funny. -
Thanks! I found a wikipedia link that lists displays by pixel density and it seems that a lot of android based phones are actually 480x800. If you can't get the wallpaper to set to the full screen properly on your android phone, I suggest Wallpaper Wizardrii. It's a free app, and it helped me set this as my wallpaper. I'll have to get some batteries, take a picture of what it looks like and upload it so you have a better idea of the android layout.

I have an HTC thunderbolt and the resolution is 480x800 if that helps with the android base. Awesome as usual Matt.

With Draper gone, should the Wings go back to having 2 alternate captains, or should they maintain 3? If they should maintain 3, who would you like to see as the 3rd alternate?
-
Yes wingnut40. Him and Datsyuk both looked like their hearts and minds were else where. Kindle from what I saw would only look up to acknowledge the person he was signing for, and then look down again.

Does anyone know if you can buy tickets at the box office, hockeytown authentics, etc... Or do you have to buy them through ticketmaster?

Looks like he has Jason from Friday the 13th, with a saw, possibly cutting hockey sticks.

Kirk Maltby to announce he is retiring
redwingslady87 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Everyone has got to get over the "offer a guy a contract because of loyalty" crap. Did Malts ever produce much at the nhl level? No, his career high was a 33 point season. Chelios was with us for 10 years, and has warranted just as much loyalty as Malts. Did they offer Chelios a two-way contract last year because it was the "right thing" to do? No they didn't. Holland flat out said that he wasn't offering Chelios a contract. Malts had a better season statistically this past season, than he did in the previous two, and he played his role of a 4th liner, penalty killer, agitator night in and night out. I'm not disagreeing that it was time for Maltby to retire and let the young kids move up and have their chance, but I don't believe Holland would offer any type of contract to a guy that he thought had no chance of fighting for a spot at camp. The point of my original post was for the previous poster to have a little respect for the guy, but I guess in this day and age, very few people have respect for others. -

Well I guess it comes down to whose opinion really matters, your boss' opinion of you, or a fan's opinion of you. Obviously Holland thought he could still do his job competently if he offered him another contract. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have offered him a contract at all. The day you stop posting here I'm sure people will be saying it's about damn time, because apparently you don't have the competency to make a meaningful contribution to any discussion. -

Normally I'm not one to say something about posters making statements like yours, but come on... Grow up and show some respect. Malts played his heart out for 14 years with us, and making the decision to retire was very obviously a difficult thing. Is that what you want people to say about you when you retire? That it's "about damn time"? -

He still wanted to play this year, but at the top level. As a returning player he needed a contract to show up to camp and fight for a spot. -
Link Dan Rosen on NHL.com also picks the Wings, however he thinks we'll go head to head with the Caps.

Unfortunately Ryan has been forced to retire due to his hip injury. Mlive

Gah wish I could afford to skip work. I need to get my Z jersey signed! -
Get well soon Matt!

Actually what he meant was most of Phoenix's fans just started watching hockey a month ago, and stay quiet because they don't know what they are talking about.

I don't really think there is any "better team" or "underdog" in the west. All of the teams are pretty equal and more than capable of taking out another team in any given game. That is why the standings for the playoffs were so close. That's why all the series have gone back and forth. I find nothing strange about that.

A Yzerman jersey will run you around $ 200. My friend just bought a new one back in March. My dad and I will be there tomorrow as well. I hope you enjoy your stay, and soak up the atmosphere of the Joe.
